Historical references ...

Falerio is a wine with a long and ancient tradition. When the Romans occupied the Picene lands, they expropriated large areas cultivated with vineyards and right between the municipalities of “Asculum” and “Firmum” they founded “Faleria Augusta”, an opulent city, the heart of the production of excellent grapes, which supplied Rome with wine, wheat. The disciplinary mainly attributes the strength of this wine to Trebbiano, calling other important vines (Pecorino and Passerina) to compete for a more modest share. The production area almost completely covers the hilly area of the province of Ascoli, with the exception of the land at the bottom of the valley and those located at an altitude of more than 700 meters above sea level.
